Student Support Service

The EMINENT programme will provide extensive support services for students, starting from the application phase and accompanying them throughout their studies.

1) Students inquiring the EMINENT programme will be assigned a personal Enrolment Advisor. A second-year student will answer questions, help the student assess their eligibility for admission, and guide them through the application process.

2) EMINENT Global provides advice regarding the administrative procedures related to the students travelling from one partner to the other. This includes visa support and finding accommodation.

3) Welcome days: At the beginning of each winter semester, the EMINENT Foreign Student Support Office at HMU, will organise a Welcome Day for the new cohort of EMINENT students. During that day, students will meet each other and receive the most important information regarding the programme, including the programme’s structure, the offered facilities, and the scheduled mobility throughout. In addition, a similar Welcome Day will be organised at each partner institution to welcome their new students.

4) The How To Get Around EMINENT manual. Each accepted student receives a manual containing all necessary contacts and practical information.

5) The EMINENT Mentoring System is carried out on two levels:
• At the beginning of their studies, students are assigned an Academic Tutor. The academic tutor will advise on academic issues such as specialisation coaching. Students will keep their academic tutor throughout their first three semesters where communication will take place virtually or face-to-face. After the third semester, the supervisors of the master’s thesis take over this task.

• At each partner institution where a student is staying, has assigned a local Student Buddy who is not a student of the EMINENT programme but who has been studying at the respective university for at least one year. The Student’s Buddy will help and assist EMINENT students to get integrated into campus life and within the local society during the mobility period.

6) The Moodle platform chat room will help students to interrelate and assist each other. The same function will be provided through the social media channels (Facebook, Instagram) of the programme.

7) The EMINENT Alumni Club: After graduation, students may join the EMINENT Alumni Club. This way, former EMINENT students stay in contact after their studies. The club, in close communication with EMINENT Global, will organise alumni meetings and events. Furthermore, the Alumni Network will be an additional contact point for currently enrolled EMINENT students asking for advice.

8) Career Service:  EMINENT students will benefit from the general Career Service offers of ATHENA European University, such as virtual job fairs, workshops, and individual career advice.

9) Additional events and academic offers in the framework of ATHENA: in the framework of the ATHENA European University, a wide variety of events are organised throughout each year which EMINENT students are welcome to join. These events include seminars with invited speakers from all over the world, digital colloquial talks, the ATHENA language café offering language training in various languages, meetings with representatives from the industry or additional courses (awarding micro-credentials) that are not part of the EMINENT programme.

10) Disability support: The EMINENT consortium will ensure the existence of services dedicated for students with special needs at all partner universities. With the help of the EACEA funding, we are able to support these students by providing them with the appropriate equipment, offering accommodation in the campus dorms with special facilities, and supporting students during their studies.
