ATHENA CONFERENCES
21-22 October 2021
Conference on the future development
of scientific research
Overview
Digitalization of education, multilinguism, interconnection with regional industry, legal framework… The 41 European University alliances, selected in the 2019 and 2020 calls are and will all have to face the same challenges to grow up as a European model of Higher Education.
Selected during the 2020 call, the ATHENA alliance, leaded by the Polytechnical institute of Porto gathers the Hellenic Mediterranean University (Greece), the University of Siegen (Germany), the university of Maribor (Slovenia), the University Degli Studi Niccolo Cusano Telematica Roma (Italy) the University of Orleans (France) and the University Gedimino Technikos of Vilnius (Lithuania).
In the context of the German, Portuguese, Slovenian and French successive presidencies of the European Union, the University of Siegen, the Polytechnic Institute of Porto, the University of Maribor and the University of Orléans, will organize an event aiming at addressing the challenges that ATHENA faces as a European University alliance.
This event will be split into four thematic workshops organized by each university between November and December 2021.
This will be followed by a broader event in February 2022 which will gather national and European decision-makers, witnesses of the four workshops, as well as members of the 40 other alliances, and will aim at tackling the most relevant issues highlighted during the previous workshops.
